Joseph Ferguson, MD, is the president and founder of both Fredericksburg Medical Aesthetics, PC, and Fredericksburg Primary Care, PC. He has earned a reputation among patients and professional peers for excellence as an internal medicine physician who delivers superior patient care.

Dr. Ferguson earned his medical degree at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, rated by healthcareglobal.com as the best medical school in the world. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Dr. Ferguson’s performance as a resident was extraordinary. He was one of four residents (out of 44 residents) who was chosen to be a chief resident.
​
With a lifelong focus on community service, after graduating as an Echols Scholar from The University of Virginia, he served in the Peace Corps in Sierra Leone, West Africa, where he spent two years teaching physics, chemistry, math, and English to elite scholars in a remote village.

SANDRA STEELE, MSN, FNP
After twenty years as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Richmond’s historic Fan district and as a former executive fitness trainer, Sandra Steele has a winning formula for family health.
​
Sandra earned her Bachelor’s degree at University of Maryland, ranked in the top ten, a Master’s degree from University of Virginia, and post-Masters Family Nurse Practitioner at Medical College of Virginia. Sandra began her career as a Trauma/Surgical Nurse at University of Virginia for ten years. She was awarded a scholarship to study Doctoral work at Johns Hopkins, but has decided not to pursue this.

Sandra created her own corporate fitness and nutrition company, “Shaping Up with Steele”, after winning several body-building titles on the East Coast. The comprehensive wellness concept inspired Sandra to go into family medicine where she advocates a balanced lifestyle for optimal health. Sandra appeared in a health video with several professional athletes and frequently lectures on Tobacco Cessation, Weight Management, and Cholesterol. She received recognition from the American Academy of Family Physicians for her contributions to a research project to help patients quit tobacco.

Sandra has two sons in college with whom she enjoys skiing, hiking, and kayaking.
JANAKIBEN (Jenny) PATEL, FNP-BC
Jenny graduated with a BSN-RN and Master of Science in Nursing from The University of South Alabama.
Before immigrating to the U.S. in 2008, she earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in India.
Jenny is Board Certified by The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She's been working with Fredericksburg Primary Care for more than three years.
She enjoys free time with her family and son.
